I've just been having a look some of your sites. 50ft Etta - I tried to post a comment on yours but it wouldn't let me! I thought the bit about the fairy dying each time you smiled was so sad - awww!
Your bimaxillary osteotomy sounds pretty radical. I have just been reading a blog by someone called Andrea, who had jaw surgery because her teeth wouldn't close at all, and the results are amazing. It's a hell of a thing to go through, but it looks as if the results will be well worth it.
Very best of luck for your bracing appointment. The brace puts a bit of pressure on your teeth, so having a couple of teeth removed beforehand will help. I noticed a real relief in pressure when I had my tooth out.
P.S. I'm sure your little niece Maisie will be fine when her big teeth grow. By the time she's old enough to have anything done, dental treatments will probably have advanced so much that she won't have to go through what you're having.
Thank you for your kind comments Dentalista!
ReplyDeleteThe bracing went well and i'm actually strangely enjoying my brace! It hurt like hell for the first 2 weeks and it was a real nuisance to begin with. Now it just feels natural and i like the bruise-pressing-like-pain, it reminds me that the brace is doing it's job.
I'm sure it will be worth it, it's an interesting experience anyway.
I had a closer look at Maisie's teeth and she has a slight crossbite which may, as you say, correct it's self when she gets her big teeth.
p.s the fairies didn't really die...they just passed out :-)

Hi Etta
ReplyDeleteI've just been on your blog (for some reason I still can't post there!) and am very impressed with your photos. You've done fantastically well in such a short time. I hope it's feeling better for you. Great colour for your elastics as well! Some how the bright yellow power chains add to the effect - it looks as if you have a party going on in your mouth!
I know what you mean about liking the pain - it makes me feel that something is actually going on. Still, I could do without the tingling nerve-ends right now. (I'm posting this on 9 July, just after having my bottom braces fitted.)
Do you have trouble closing your top teeth over the braces on your lower ones? My teeth are quite small and couldn't close with the bottom brace on, so I have had to have some cement stuck in to hold the teeth apart at the right height.
